Family through and through.
The story of HomeStreet Bank is truly one of family. For most of our history we were a business led by members of the Williams family. Now, we’re a network of branches on the West Coast and Hawaii that still feels a whole lot like family. See what our employees, partners, and customers are saying has kept HomeStreet feeling like family for 100 years.
As Governor, I want to congratulate you on your centennial anniversary. Reaching the 100-year mark is an occasion most worthy of celebrating. HomeStreet Bank has been a leader within the Mortgage Bankers Association for nearly a century, going back to before 1933, when the bank’s founder W. Walt Williams was nominated to be MBA’s President. Walt’s son, Walter B. Williams continued the Bank’s commitment to industry leadership by also serving as MBA President in the 1970s. To this day, HomeStreet’s dedication to a better mortgage banking industry, and the customers they serve, is reflected in the wide array of company executives who participate within MBA’s leadership and on specific community-based projects. These leaders include former Executive Vice President Rich Bennion, who served as chair of MBA’s Residential Board of Governors and was the 2018 winner of the Andrew D. Woodward Distinguished Service Award for his dedication and prominent service to MBA and the mortgage lending industry. MBA is a better organization for HomeStreet Bank’s engagement, and we look forward to continuing our partnership for the next 100 years.

The service at my branch here in El Cajon, CA is the best banking service I have ever experienced. I am 63 years old and have been banking since my paper route days when I was 10 years old. The team at my HomeStreet Branch provides service beyond expectation with a warm greeting, friendly smile, and mutual respect. The team’s professional expertise has been beyond reproach. Thank you very much for taking such good care of me and my family!

I’m proud to celebrate our rich history as we turn 100 years old! HomeStreet Bank is a uniquely special organization that values the insights and contributions of all its employees. Working in an inclusive culture built on trust and respect, I learned early in my career that it is my job to keep the culture alive. It is a privilege and honor to work for a community bank that continues to do the right thing for our employees, customers, and communities. Happy Birthday, HomeStreet!

My clients are the heart of what I do and why I love my job. I’ve been with HomeStreet Bank for 39 years, because our clients are the heart of the company, too. Starting with the Williams family, and throughout the challenging economic cycles of the past decades, HomeStreet has taken its role in the community seriously. I’ve seen the cycles, and I’ve seen how the company has weathered them all and helped our clients do the same. I began doing loans in 1983 for HomeStreet clients, and now, in 2021, I’m doing loans for many of their grandchildren. I consider it a privilege to work with multiple generations of families, and to stand alongside them during some of the most important times in their lives. I’m proud to have done it at HomeStreet, where many of my clients and my co-workers are also lifelong friends.

When COVID-19 emerged, creating disruption and uncertainty within my small business, HomeStreet Bank stepped up and relentlessly helped me navigate and secure a PPP loan. They took on my stress and frustration with a challenging situation as their own and took away any uncertainties I had. They aided my company and employees in a challenging time. For that, I am grateful and could not recommend a more caring bank.

As a very young married adult, I moved across the country to Tacoma, Washington. I was very fortunate to be hired by HomeStreet Bank. HomeStreet has supported and guided me throughout my career. I’ve made many close relationships with other employees as well as others who have left. I feel comfort in knowing HomeStreet cares about its employees and our communities and continues to make good decisions about its future. For these reasons, HomeStreet means family to me. The feeling of stability, good decision-making, dedication, and caring are all qualities of a great family. I will be forever grateful. Happy 100th birthday, HomeStreet!

I love the personal treatment I get at the Madison Park branch and the proactive notices I receive if there are unusual charges on my credit or debit accounts. The branch staff is incredibly nice, helpful, and friendly. It’s like having a thoughtful member of a family that looks out for you. This, of course, is incredibly important when it comes to personal finances!

Over the years, HomeStreet Bank has engrained itself into the fabric of my life. It’s a workplace where I’ve been able to build long-lasting relationships. The culture we’ve built for our customers—putting people and our communities first—has been so rewarding. To greet our customers by name and share important moments of life together is the best part of this bank. To support our local community and businesses big and small with care and Aloha is what makes this a great workplace to be a part of. It’s been an amazing 100 years and I hope 100+ more to come!

I am proud to work for HomeStreet Bank. I like being a long-standing part of the history of the bank and sharing that with newer employees. There have been a lot of changes over the years but one thing that has not changed is community involvement. The Williams family set a precedence in the community which has carried on over the years. When I attend a volunteer event, I put on my blue HomeStreet shirt with pride and feel good about my small contribution to the community.
